  • How to take care of my blanket?
Merino Wool: Machine wash at 30°C, delicate cycle. Baby Alpaca Wool: Hand wash in cold water or dry clean. Recycled Cashmere Wool: Machine wash at 30°, wool program.
  • Why shear sheep and alpacas?
The wool of sheep and alpacas, like that of many mammals, is a continuously growing fiber. When this wool becomes too long, it becomes harmful to the animal. Difficulties in movement, excess heat, and lack of hygiene are among the risks these animals face if not shorn. With the onset of warmer weather, without human intervention, they seek to rid themselves of this uncomfortable fleece by rubbing against any surface they can find.

  • Will my blanket / scarf itch?
The sensation of a blanket itching depends primarily on one thing: the quality, diameter, and length of the wool fibers. Other factors that may come into play are how these fibers are spun and treated, and how these yarns are knitted. We only choose the best fibers, among the finest and softest in the world. This is one of La Maison de la Maille's savoir-faire. The length and softness of these fibers increase across our 3 types of wool: our eco-designed wool (recycled from scraps of new wool), our Merino wool, and our Baby Alpaca wool. Regarding spinning and knitting, we only work with the best workshops in the world, allowing us to achieve this incomparable softness. In summary: No, our blankets and scarves do not itch. For the extra-sensitive, we recommend choosing our Merino wool or Baby Alpaca wool range. Our eco-designed wool is the least soft of our 3 ranges due to its recycled design. But it is also the most resistant, ideal for picnics, outdoor activities, and adventurers.
